Rich Fool or Rich because Blessed by God
Luke 12:16-21
The difference between the rich who do not fear God and those who are entrusted with great wealth by Godβs grace is as different as heaven and hell. Peter was a poor fisherman. But when Jesus made him a fisher of men to the kingdom of heaven, many believers willingly sold their possessions and belongings and gave them to him. (The apostles had not commanded anyone to do this.) But Peter did not use this money to build a palace and live a luxurious life, as the false apostles do today. Instead, he used this money to help others as needed.
If we do not understand this truth about wealth, we will be hypocrites, as we see today, who pretend and preach to hate money, but instead, thirst for it, pray for it, and hoard and enjoy everything they get.
Fathers Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Job were all very wealthy by God’s grace. But they did not love or serve wealth and money. They were faithful stewards of the wealth God had given them, using it for themselves and for others.
God has given each of us talents according to our God-ordained calling, ministry, and ability. When we receive the Holy Spirit, we will receive spiritual gifts such as speaking in tongues. Prophecy, etc. The talents we receive. God gives us talents to be good stewards of money and work, to be useful servants to the Master by exchanging them. When we use these talents for our own and others’ service, we hear the call to be a good and faithful servant, and to be a faithful steward of the little we have received, we are entrusted with much. Therefore, remember that we must give an account to God for all the talents, money, work, and time we have received.
If we are entrusted with a lot of wealth, are we matured enough to use it responsibly and faithfully, knowing that it is money entrusted to us by God? Or, like the foolish rich man, will we use it for unnecessary extravagance and luxury for ourselves and our family, and will we keep accumulating it without giving it to others? It was learned from the news that a rich man who was shot dead the other day had 12 Rolls Royce cars.
