Those Who are Now living in Union with Christ, are Seated with Him in Heavenly Places, Above all authorities
Jaison Chacko
Active believers in Christ, who are living in Union with Christ are seated with Him in Heavenly Places . They are the very Body of Christ and hence they are also above all principalities and powers , like the Head Jesus.
Ephesians 1:20-23 – “He [God] raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.” This passage emphasizes Christ’s position of authority and power, which has been given to Him by God. It also emphasizes that Christ is the head of the church, and believers are part of His body. Therefore, believers share in Christ’s position of authority and power.
Ephesians 2:6 – “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.” This verse emphasizes the fact that believers have been raised up with Christ and are now seated with Him in the heavenly realms. This position of authority and power is given to believers through their union with Christ.
Colossians 3:1 – “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.” This verse urges believers to focus their hearts and minds on heavenly things, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Again, this emphasizes the idea of believers being in a position of authority and power through their union with Christ.
In summary, these verses teach that believers in Christ are united with Him and share in His position of authority and power. This means that believers are seated with Christ in the heavenly realms, far above all principalities and powers. This position of authority and power is given to believers through their union with Christ, and it should encourage them to focus their hearts and minds on heavenly things.
But who are the Believers in Christ Jesus? Who are united with Him?
Romans 8:1 NKJV says: “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.”
Galatians 5:24, which says:
“And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.”
This verse speaks to the idea that believers in Christ have put to death their sinful nature and desires, and are now living according to the Spirit.
Those who are in Christ Jesus, are the ones who walk not according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit
